frequently asked

What is included in the price?

All professional guiding services, lift tickets, accommodation, transportation, and a simple breakfast each day are included in the cost of a multi day tour package.

What is not included in the price?

Lunches and dinners are not included in the trip price, in case you'd prefer to take a break from the group for a meal or two.  Rental equipment is also not included in the price.  We will, however, gladly organize any rentals requests you may have.  A rental equipment price list is available upon request.  Contact C Pow at the time of booking for any rentals you may require.

What are the accommodations like?

The accommodations visited by our tours are clean, friendly, and quiet with hot tubs being a primary concern to ensure a good sleep.  In our home town of Golden, we'll have you stay with our friends' bed & breakfast lodges; AubergeLe Beausolei, and Canyon Ridge Lodge.  It's always a treat to meet the locals.

What is the nightlife like?

Like any ski town, there is a lively nightlife to partake in when on tour.  From a couple cold beers at aprés ski to a night on the town of dancing and live music, we'll show you where you can find it.

What is the guide to guest ratio?

The minimum number of guides to guests is 1 guide for 6 people.  However, we usually try to operate our tours with 10 people and 2 guides.  This allows for those on tour to split into two smaller groups on any given ski day.

How good of a snowboarder/skier do I have to be?

Everyone is welcome regardless of ability on our multi day tours, and if instruction is needed, we'll help arrange classes at the resorts we visit.  For those wishing to take on backcountry skiing, it is advantageous to have a good level of fitness, and at least an intermediate level of ski/snowboard ability.

What if I don’t want a guide?

If we are skiing at the resort for the day, you are free to ski with our guides or on your own.  They will happily give you tips on where to ski.  Any out of bounds skiing is guided, and guests must adhere to the guides' instructions.  When booking heli and cat skiing packages with us, each operator will have their own guides, and we will provide transportation to and from these operators.

Do I need special equipment to go out of bounds?

All participants riding in the backcountry will be required to wear an avalanche transceiver, as well as carry a small daypack with a probe and shovel.  If you'll be ski touring (opposed to just hiking in boots), touring bindings and skins for ascending are required, and are available to rent.  For snowboarders, a splitboard and collapsable poles are ideal, also available to rent.  Book your rental equipment well in advance.

What is our Guest Cancellation Policy?

A non-refundable deposit of $300 is due at the time of booking as a reservation fee.  The remainder of the tour price is due 30 days prior to the departure of the trip, and is fully refundable up until 10 days prior to the tour. Cancellations within 10 days of tour departure date are 50% refundable.  After a reservation is made, changes to the booking will be possible but not guaranteed, depending upon availability.
